After a wonderful night at balmy Bedourie,
we headed south again, towards the tiny town
of Betoota, now consisting of only one unoccupied
hotel, where the rally had a quick lunch stop
which was very well catered for by the owners
of a local station.
Again the roads were rocky and dusty at times
and also very soft and corrugated at others,
requiring diligent driver concentration! As
a result of hard driving conditions and the
extreme circumstances being placed on the
vehicles, two cars required towing the majority
of the distance between Bedourie and Windorah,
which was over 400km. These vehicles are currently
being worked on and will hopefully be returning
to the road within the next day to complete
the rally.
A highlight for many cars along the way was
some great ruins where many cars stopped for
a quick break before heading off again.
Cars arriving in Windorah were greeted with
a long line for fuel at the service
station, followed by the quick set up of swags
and a possible shower before a cold beer at
the pub, where dinner and karaoke was to follow.
There were also some interesting dance moves
displayed on the lawn out the front!
Another surprise for our drivers in Windorah
was the parking metres on the street –
luckily nobody got fined while illegally parked
in this small little town!
