What another wonderful day of good friends, awesome scenery and of course fantastic driving! A brilliant sunrise this morning revealed frozen cars and a very cold crew. People split their time between a hot breakfast, thawing out their vehicles, and huddling around the fire pit. Even the resident Canadian admitted that it was cold.
Day 2 saw the Great Escape leave from Tuena and travel through Crookwell, Yass and Wee Jasper, terminating in Tumut. The course consisted of almost all wacko sections, many on challenging bitumen and dirt roads high up in plantations.
Lunch was served at Greystones Winery in Murrumbateman. Special thanks to Greg Birch for hosting a fantastic event with excellent food and wonderful atmosphere. As a bonus, 10% of the sales of wine that day went towards Cystic Fibrosis Australia.
After, the cars departed up gorgeous roads, with scenic views much of the time. Cars Rosie and 007 were caught out looking at too much of the scenery and ended up casualties of these treacherous (but fun) stretches. Both vehicles had to be towed out of the ditch and thankfully their only injury was their pride.
We are now successfully in Tumut and looking forward to another day full of wackos tomorrow.
