What a difference a day can make! After our
relaxing cruise around the Great Ocean Road
yesterday, today's route proved more difficult
with cars slogging through narrow, sandy,
steep and muddy tracks. Our path started in
Camperdown and wound through Grampians National
Park, Balmoral, and finally ending in the
lovely town of Frances, right on the border
of South Australia and Victoria. Congratulations
to all cars for making it to the finish line
with no major difficulties.
This morning the Great Escape got off to
a wonderful start with the mayor waving all
the cars off. Even the steady rain couldn't
dampen everybody's excitement about getting
on the road again. Teresa and Sharyn had even
more of an eventful morning when Stuart and
Mark from the Verticon Villains paid their
car a visit and sprayed silly string everywhere!
Also congratulations to the Bonner family
for winning the raffle for a gorgeous autographed
racing shirt.
Lunch was in the wonderful village of Balmoral,
where a BBQ was enjoyed by all. The afternoon
saw the cars traverse across challenging sandy
trails and dunes finally getting to Frances
for the night. An excellent dinner was held
in the Frances Hotel tonight, with a silent
auction held afterwards to raise money for
Cystic Fibrosis Australia. Tonight, we had
a wide variety of items with an emphasis on
Australian wine, as well as QuickSilver clothing.
Thanks to all who donated! Tomorrow is our
last major day on the road and the time has
just flown by.
We hope you are all doing well back at home,
and we'll see you soon!
