Daily Update – Day 7 – Noorama to Camp Cypress

The day's program here as PDF file

We dusted off our swags in the early morning and hit the road again today! An early start saw us travel 450km out of QLD and back into NSW. As we left QLD the landscape welcomed us with a more luscious outlook - plenty of trees and bushy scrub.

With a quick stop off at Walgett for lunch, we pushed on to Camp Cypress, Baradine. Relieved to be out of the heat and in the shade of the trees, we set up camp where we will stay for the next two days.

The driving today saw us traverse through sleepy towns, kicking us plenty of dust along the way. We only had one casualty today –and it was a big one– The Wenches car has packed it. Guzzling petrol and oil, they decided to say a farewell to their ride and tuck in with a few other cars until they get to Port Macquarie (our final destination).

Once the sun went down, a fire was soon stacked up and roaring. “Roo” treated us with his talents, playing guitar and country music and drawing quite a crowd! It wasn’t long until nearly everyone was around was requesting songs. Rob from The Kenny’s displayed his genius inside, drawing characters of fellow Great Escapers.

It was a fun and relaxed evening. Just what we need to gear us up for tomorrow – rallying through the Warrumbungles!
