Daily Update – Day 8 – Camp Cypress

The day's program here as PDF file

After a great night’s sleep in the leafy camp site and comfy cabins, we were up and at ‘em –discovering the Warrumbungle Mountains.

The Wacko section saw us zig zag through private roads and picturesque country side, then up the steep incline of the mountains toward lunch. The All Aussie Adventures car – Car 807 had to stop to cool down on the way up and the Virgin combie struggled slowly – but we all made it in the end!

We met at Pilliga Pottery for lunch. On an open, leafy block of land, Pilliga Pottery treated us to wood fired pizzas and the off-beat, unique works of art were a hit with everyone! We then enjoyed a good run on the way back down the mountains and back into camp.

At night, the evening air bought out the Pilliga Princess in all of us! A local myth about a young woman who died nearby was the inspiration for a range of costumes –from banchies, to jail mates, to fairies and even Bob the Builders were out in good form. The camp fire was roaring, and we enjoyed a good yarn before tucking in for the night in preparation for our next stint to Mt Seaview.
